The Provincial Hospital in Bielsko-Biała has started subscribing for free flu vaccinations. The Ministry of Health has specified in detail who can benefit from them. Vaccination starts on October 12.
Vaccinations are to prevent massive flu cases in the 2021-2022 season. – Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have much lower immunity. It should be remembered that infection with the influenza virus increases the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Overlapping the two infections can severely damage the lungs. She added that a milder course of Covid 19 was also observed in people vaccinated against influenza.
Pursuant to the ordinance of the ministry, free vaccine is available to persons over 75 years of age.
The Ministry of Health also recommends vaccinating patients of care and treatment facilities, nursing and care facilities, stationary or home hospices, as well as residents of social welfare homes.
The vaccination campaign also includes employees of entities performing medical activities, pharmacists, people providing pharmaceutical services in a generally accessible pharmacy or pharmacy outlet. The free dose can also be used by laboratory employees, academic teachers, as well as other persons employed in universities and students and doctoral students participating in classes with the participation of patients. Employees of the State Pharmaceutical Inspection are also entitled to a free vaccine.
People employed in social welfare centers or institutions providing round-the-clock care for the disabled, chronically ill or the elderly may also participate in the free flu vaccination program.
The free dose may also be given to employees of kindergartens, schools, day support centers, pre-adoption intervention centers, care and educational institutions and educational institutions of another country located in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
