The Intensive Care Unit of the Provincial Hospital has 13 uniformly equipped intensive treatment stations, a treatment room and a monitoring center. The ventilation equipment consists of the latest generation Dräger ventilators, BBraun infusion pumps and Philips modular monitors. Pitches are equipped with Hill Rom beds. The basic equipment is supplemented by devices for the controlled cooling and heating of patients and for intra-aortic counterpulsation (mechanical circulation support). The department has the ability to perform bedside impedance tomography, nitric oxide supply, extracorporeal oxygenation (ECMO), bronchoscopy and various techniques of renal replacement therapy (5 units). The department is fully computerized, which allows for keeping treatment records in an electronic system. In this system, it is also possible to edit analytical tests and radiological imaging (including tomographic) at each treatment station. There is also system communication with a modern analyzer of critical parameters.

The bed base of the ward is supplemented with 4 postoperative supervision stations, which ensure the conditions for mechanical ventilation, respiratory therapy and supervision over postoperative patients.

Anesthesia is performed in 16 anesthesia centers, including 7 operating theaters and in the magnetic resonance laboratory, which is equipped with appropriate equipment for examinations under general anesthesia. Apparatus for anesthesia within permanent anesthesia stations, as well as infusion pumps and additional equipment (ultrasound scopes, bronchoscopes, videolaryngoscopes) are modern and come from leading manufacturers of medical equipment.

The medical staff of the department consists of 30 doctors and almost 70 nurses, which allows for the implementation of the most complex clinical tasks. The department has a third level of reference and training accreditation in the field of anaesthesiology and intensive care (12 places) and intensive care (3 places). The team organizes specialist CMKP training courses as well as nationwide conferences and congresses.
